Books
in My Bathroom, Bedroom and Business Folder - Right Now!
by
Chris King
I
don’t know about you, but I love to hear and read about the latest
and greatest books other free agents, independent professionals and freelancers
are reading. Noticing how many new books I have accumulated during the
past few months, I decided to share the titles with you.
You
see, I suffered a hip fracture the beginning of 2006 so was somewhat
restricted. Therefore, I went a little bit overboard ordering books. No,
I haven’t finished all of them yet, but I have started all of them
- and, I am impressed. I hope you find at least one in my list that appeals
to you and can help you in your business. They are all super!
If
you are searching for a delightful read filled with truthful
wisdom, order Joe Vitale’s Life’s
Missing Instruction Manual: The Guidebook You Should Have Been Given
at Birth.
You
don’t have to and really shouldn’t rush through this
slim, but loaded book. Each page holds treasures of thoughts, ideas and
solutions. For example (from page 15)
“People without this manual focus on what they don’t want.
They get more of it.
You’re smarter than that. (Right?)
If you want wealth, focus on wealth.
Of you want health, focus on health.
If you want happiness, focus on happiness.
It’s an overlooked but guaranteed secret of the universe: You get
more of whatever you focus on.”
Books that Focus on Our Passions
For
years, my mission has been to help others who are struggling to create
a life and work that they love and are passionate about. I have
also written about my “Portfolio Career” and argued with many
about the fact that it is possible to have many different careers, interests
and passions. At last, there are others writing about this too!
The
first was written by Janet Bray Attwood and Chris Attwood. Called
The
Passion Test: The Effortless Path to Discovering Your Destiny,
the book - in the words of Richard Paul Evans, “… astounds
us with the possibility that life can be fun, challenging, rewarding and
purposeful, all at the same time. Chris and Janet Attwood will take you
on an adventure into you own heart, and show you how to wake up the passions
which are the fuel for living the life you were meant to live.”
The
second is another heart and eye opener. Written by Margaret Lobenstine,
The
Renaissance Soul: Life Design for People with Too Many Passions to
Pick Just One, this book says “you can have it all - and shows
you how.” Jennifer Louden writes, “I’m so grateful this
book has finally been written! I need, my clients need, the world needs
this incredibly helpful, practical, life-changing guidebook for those
of us with a multitude of passions and aptitudes.”
And
the third was written by a woman I have respected and listened
to for years, Barbara Sher. “Don’t know what to do with your
life? Are you drawn to so many things you can’t choose one? Do you
ache to find the right direction so you can settle down and just do it?
If this is you, you should …” Refuse
to Choose! A Revolutionary Program for Doing Everything that You Love.
Sher describes us as “a very special kind of thinker…You are
the owner of a remarkable, multitalented brain trying to do its work in
a world that doesn’t understand who you are and doesn’t know
why you behave as you do.”
Books
for Business Success
Advertised
as presenting “Low Cost Ideas and High Profit Results,”
Dan Kennedy’s The
Ultimate Marketing Plan, 3rd Edition, is all you need to find
your unique selling proposition and deliver it to the right prospects.
Filled with practical, no-nonsense ideas that help you position your product,
build buzz, and make money, this updated edition also includes expanded
coverage on Internet marketing. Kennedy, a highly paid professional direct-response
copywriter, teaches us a step-by-step system for creating marketing plans
any business can use. I find that he never minces words. He tells it like
it is.
While
we are on the subject of marketing, let me tell you about Mark
Joyner’s newest book, The
Great Formula for Creating Maximum Profit with Minimal Effort.
Joyner starts where he left off in the last book (which I also own) called
The Irresistible Offer. In the words of Joseph Sugarman, “With all
the fancy buzzwords used to describe how to achieve success, here is a
commonsense formula that cuts through the chatter and goes straight to
the heart of what really works. This is truly a new perspective.”
Another
book that has changed my direction this year and gave me the
motivation and step-by-step process for creating the website, www.ChrisRecommends.com,
that uses affiliate marketing as its core, was written by Rosalind Gardner.
The Affiliate Handbook
tells the amazing true story of how one woman, with no previous business
experience, earns $400,000+ per year ... selling other people's stuff
online! In her down-to-earth, sincere and often humorous style, Gardner
guides you through the entire process of building an affiliate marketing
business on the 'Net. In 230+ pages, and more than 68,000 words, you'll
learn how to pick the best programs, negotiate a commission raise and
save time, money and effort on everything from affiliate software to web
hosting.
And
finally, The
DNA of Success: Know What You Want … To Get What You Want
by Jack M. Zufelt. This fascinating book in the words of Jack Canfield,
“… is a masterpiece about the true cause of achievement. Jack
Zufelt successfully challenges the standard concepts about success, demonstrates
that we all have the DNA of success embedded within our hearts and souls,
and then shows how to pull it out and use it to create any level of success
you want.” If you set goals that are not accomplished; if you recite
daily affirmations that are never realized; and if you listen to motivational
speakers but find you quickly lose your enthusiasm, then get this book.
And, also listen to some of Zufelt’s tapes. They are mind and eye
opening!
Well,
it’s time to get back to my exciting reading. All I can
say, is try at least one of the books I’ve mentioned. You’ll
be glad you did. And, let me know - I love receiving your FEEDBACK!
