How to Establish Credibility - One Detail at a Time
by Vickie Sullivan

Seth Godin in his recent editorial "Slowly I Turned … Step by Step … Inch by Inch …" writes about "gradual." He discusses how gradual bad habits can cause damage - like overweight - yet how gradual good habits can lead to positive results. In his words, "… you should consider using the few opportunities that you have to invest in those things that are worth it: things that represent big change but that are achieved over time."
As I read the editorial, I started considering and counting all of the details - the little steps - we can pay attention to that add up to big results - especially with regard to our credibility.

Ten Questions to Ask Before You Decide to Speak Professionally
by Vickie Sullivan

Professional speaking looks glamorous and it is - for the hour or so that you're in the spotlight. What you have to do before and after those magical times in front of the audience might be a rude awakening. Like show business, professional speaking is a volatile industry that chews up and spits out talented experts on a regular basis.

So you really want to be a professional speaker? Here are ten questions to ask yourself before entering into the fray.

The Quest for Content
by Chris King

I recently attended a presentation by an excellent professional speaker who was leading a session on using the Internet to our advantage. He started by telling the group (at least 65 attendees) that he had two presentations prepared - one with stories and illustrations, warm and fuzzy; and the other loaded with information and fast speaking and note taking. He asked the audience to vote on which one they would prefer.
It was a unanimous vote for the second choice. This made me stop and consider a different look at many of the time-tested speaking techniques we have discussed in my many articles. How do we, as presenters, consider the present day Quest for Content.
